In case you don’t know. Lisbon is the European city with the most sunny hours, highest average temperature and lowest rainfall… in other words – the perfect weather for beach life.
With some of Europe’s best beaches less than 40 minutes from downtown, Lisbon is the perfect holiday destination for families and especially families with kids.
With Sun, sand, the sea & soft-ice during the day time AND culture, entertainment & gastronomy for all generations the rest of the day, Lisbon offers the best conditions for family Holidays. Parents don’t have to worry about their kids
Even on the very rare occasions with NO sun and maybe also rain, Lisbon has a lot to offer. And a lot more than: The Zoo, Tram #28, Castello, Oceanário and similar sights you get when you googled: Going to Lisbon with kids…
NOT EXACTLY what you expected but NO reason to panic.
Like all other big international cities Lisbon has activities for local residents with kids. But most of them never reach the tourist media.
We have spent a lot of time in Lisbon the past 30 years – and a lot of time with kids. So we know that the only way to get along is 1) forget about your own interests and 2) make sure the kids have fun. And fun doesn’t necessarily mean letting them do what they want. Most of the time, it means not doing what you want them to do.
The first time I had my grandson on my own I had planned several activities I was sure would be hits. The only thing he was interested in was the cannon at Castello. The small fountains in Martim Moniz, The pigeons on Rossio and the Playground in Estrella Park… so much for my preparations LOL
Over the years we have of course been to the Zoo, to the Ocnario, National Museum of Science and Natural History (highly recommended), Cristo Rei and several in-door and out-door playgrounds. And over the years I have forwarded my lists to so many friends and friend-of-friends that I decided to map them all. Its easier to share…
So unless you’ve already done this, don’t waste time on guidebooks – our map is better, more childish and easier to use – just get in on your mobile and/tablet.
Enjoy.
