DJ Marfox plays tomorrow at the Famous Feast 15 @ Village Underground

We love music – ALL KINDS OF MUSIC!

As long as the music is well produced & well performed and has some kind of originality. Jazz, pop, Rock, Industrial, Kraut, World – we don’t care.

The electronical/DJ-Scene is very close to our hearts. Especially the genre you only find here in Lisbon.

For the last ten years, a thrilling form of African-influenced dance music has been brewing in bedrooms in Lisbon’s heavily isolated housing projects. This new music genre that emerged is called the ghetto sound of Lisbon. Its pioneer is DJ Marfox.

Marfox, whose real name is Marlon Silva, grew up in Quinta da Vitória, about ten minutes away from Quinta do Mocho. His family is from the island of São Tomé e Príncipe, a former Portuguese colony in the Gulf of Guinea. He listened to kizomba, samba and kuduro as a kid, and was exposed to jazz and Brazilian pop through his father.

Inspired by his cousin, who was a local DJ, Marfox started mixing music with old tape decks when he was seven.  Ryan Keeling, the residentadvisor.net

Dj-marfox

I have been listening DJ Marfox everyday for the last 3 months.

The way Marfox blends his African roots with the Southern European tradition is unique… so it was not a big surprice to me when I found out that he is not only the most famous Portoguese DJ’s – he plays at the most credible venues around the world.

Marfox has introduce me to new beats – and a whole new group of veri interisting DJs like, DJ Nigga Fox, DJ Firmeza, DJ Liofox
