Lisbon leapt nine places to 26th in the World’s Best Cities category at this year’s Telegraph Travel Awards’. It is the cheapest Western European destination for a city break this year, according to the Post Office, and is increasingly appearing on British travelers’ short break hit list.

As if you needed any more convincing… here are 18 reasons your next getaway should be to the Portuguese capital.

In case you need it – here is one more list of Lisbon arguments of why you should go to Lisbon.

20150930_102607Yesterday Hugh Morris listed 18 reason why Lisbon should be on traveler’s bucket list of city breaks.

On the list you find the usual suspects. The attractions all lists high-lights. But for the first time we see 3 of the important arguments we always tell our friends who needs the famous last drop to get convinced (not that it has been needed).

One of them is this one: The airport is only 6 km from down town – 20 min by metro/15 min by taxi and max 10 Euro.

The other one is the proximity to the best beaches in the world. Cities like Copenhagen and Barcelona are destinations where you can combine a city break with a day on a sandy beach. But Lisbon is the only one we know where you have some of the best beaches only 30 minutes drive from down town.

The third one is this one. How many Cities in Europe can you get a pint for as cheap as 2 Euros? There are a few travelers that either don’t drink wine or find i more refreshing with a cold beer when you’re city trekking 🙂
