This the most encouraging Lisbon story I’ve read in a long time…
Start-up is important. So are big international events such as Web Summit. It not only attracts business & promotes Lisbon And even you sometimes doubt it tourism is good too.
But the new Mezze that just opened in Arroios Mercado (the coolest food part of Lisbon right now) is at least as important as the above business, events and Industries.
Because it shows that it’s still possible to find European cities with a human approach to refugees – Like Lisbon where Mezze is one of the first restaurants we have seen in a very long time that welcomes refugees.
Lisbon’s first Syrian restaurant a welcome sign for refugees
The queue outside Lisbon’s first Syrian restaurant on its opening day showed an appetite not just for Syrian food but for integration in one of the few European countries trying to welcome more refugees.
Syrian refugees run Mezze restaurant after money was raised to renovate a former butcher’s shop on a market in the Portuguese capital’s popular Arroios neighborhood.
