Next week the world’s largest tech conference opens in Lisbon
In case you don’t know: More than 60,000 people from more than 160 countries will join the event together with more than 2,200 journalists from as many countries.
68% of them will be senior managers who will ‘use’ web Summits 25 mini conferences to network when they are not getting inspiration and knowledge from the programs more than 1,000 speakers.
We have been to a lot Advertising, Film, Beer Industry, Music Industry, Media, Travel, FMCG, Design and several other festivals and conferences in our time.
None of the events we have attended have been as big as Web Summit. Still we have stressed around trying to meet the relevant people, share business cards, get customers, socialize and get the best out of everything.
How on earth do you deal with en event as big as Web Summit?
One thing is for sure – if you leave your office and fly directly to Lisbon just in time to make it for the opening without any planning at all you will waste time and money.
On the other hand – like most of the other attendances you’re probably too busy to spend hours going through the program and the list of relevant companies…
A few days ago I stumbled upon a Medium post from MLSDev: Web Summit 2017: How To Make the Most Of It? it started before listing the first 5 steps in their mini guide to Web Summit:
- 1. Learn basic info about Web Summit
- Let your network know you’re going to Web Summit
- Set up your schedule in advance
- Take care of your brand awareness
- Optimize your free time between the conferences
Their advises may look obvious and basic. BUT like in so many other cases it’s the easy and obvious advises that get you started. So in case you haven’t planned your Web Summit this may get you started.
Your portable guide to Web Summit
Of course you already have the official Web Summit 2017 App on tour mobile gadgets… but just in case 🙂
The new Web Summit app is now live. 60,000 attendees will connect and chat before and during Web Summit.
The app gives each attendee a personalised Web Summit experience, sharing tailored recommendations of talks to see and people to meet, real-time schedule updates on talks they might be interested in and the opportunity to start group chats with anyone on our attendee list.
Users can search all our attendees and startups, and we ensure they’ll be up to date with what’s going on at Web Summit using the Schedule feature. You can even personalize your agenda based on your own interests to make sure you get the most out of time you spend in Lisbon.
The best bit? Everything will be updated in real-time, right in your pocket.
