Queer Lisboa – International Queer Film Festival is the first Portuguese Film Festival dedicated exclusively to screening gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and transsexual themed films, a genre known as Queer Cinema. This is a genre that outbreaks with increasing expression in major international film festivals and it’s the goal of Queer Lisboa to program what is more relevant in aesthetic and narrative terms in the worldwide panorama, trying to compensate the fact that the access to this cinema is restricted to the mainstream audience. Queer 2016 is dedicated to Derek Jarman In 2016, Queer Lisboa – International Queer Film Festival celebrates its 20th anniversary, from the 16th to 24th September, with a special edition that will include a comprehensive retrospective on Derek Jarman. A total of over 40 films including features and short films, in what is one of the biggest retrospectives ever dedicated to Jarman will be shown at Cinemateca Portuguesa Venue: Cinemateca Portuguesa Program: Queer Lisboa 20
