Why you need to take a surf trip to Portugal, any time of year?
Time is precious. Even more so, when you’ve got limited vacation time and a plethora of surf spots on your bucket list.
If you’ve saved up for a surfing splurge, you’ll certainly want to be sure you score waves.
Therefore if you’re thinking of heading across the Atlantic, here’s how to take a surf trip to Portugal (no matter what season).
Portugal's surf seasons
We are not surfers – but love going to the beaches.
Not only are we privileged having the mildest climate in Europe with the lowest rainfall, highest average temperature and most sunny hours. We are surrounded by all kinds of beaches less than 30 minutes from our door which makes it possible to sun bate all year around. As long as the sun shines we can always find shelters for the wind.
For surfers it’s a little different. They need the waves and the wind which vary over the year. So if you’re are planning your surf holiday – go with the flow… and the ‘flow’ goes here:
- Fall (September – November): Ericeira, Peniche & Nazaré
- Winter (December – February): Cascais & Algarve
- Spring: (March – May): Northern Portugal
- Summer: (June – August): The Algarve Region
