
Annette discuss Smørrebrød with Mag and Nanci
Food is important to us. It adds ambiance to a place. So from the start it was our plan to have a restaurant in the hotel – or rather, to run the restaurant within the hotel. Like in Kathmandu where Tings Tea Lounge has been a success for almost 10 years. But in order to focus on the hotel in the beginning, we started out with a 3 years concession.
However – as if Covid wasn’t enough – suddenly we ended up this summer with the restaurant added to all our other problems.
We make almost everything our selves, An almost all ingredients are from Graça.
But since Annette and I are the only staff running the Hotel and thus are tight to the place, we decided to start up the kitchen when our friend Mag and her Mother Nanci offered their help.
Since we left Denmark in 2009 the world scene has changed. Today the Danish Traditional Smørrebrød is topping the Ultimate Eats list of most interesting food experiences in the world – we did not see that coming!!!. But with 2 out of 10 of the worlds best restaurants during the last 10 years being Danish it may not be a big surprise for foodies..

We are only 4 running the place – and except for Nanci – hopeless amateurs (but with our hearts in the right place. So have patience when you come…. at least the first week.
