Lisbon is a city made for walking, but its famous hills add an unexpected twist to every stroll. While most people talk about the “seven hills,” locals know the secret: Lisbon actually has eight, with the highest—Miradouro da Senhora do Monte—right outside our hotel’s door.
Even a short walk on Google Maps can turn into a real adventure, thanks to the city’s steep stairways, winding lanes, and narrow streets. Exploring these hills is part of Lisbon’s charm, but it can also be surprisingly tiring.
That’s why, after a day of discovering viewpoints and hidden corners, our guests love to relax in our peaceful garden. It’s quiet, shady, and offers a wonderful view—an ideal spot to unwind with a book or simply enjoy the moment.
If you prefer to stay indoors, our guests‑only terrace in the main house is another great place to recharge, with the same tranquil atmosphere and sweeping city views.
Whether you’re searching for Lisbon’s best viewpoints or just a serene place to rest after exploring the city’s eight hills, Tings Lisbon is the perfect base in Graça.
We get it—relaxing is wonderful, but as travelers, it’s hard to sit still for too long. After a couple of hours unwinding at the hotel, that familiar feeling creeps in: the urge to get out and experience more of Lisbon.
Don’t worry—you’re in the perfect neighborhood for it.
Graça is full of charming little oases, whether you’re looking for a sunny terrace, a shady bench, or just a cozy spot to sip a cold drink or a cup of coffee. From beautiful parks and lively squares to our personal favorites—some of Lisbon’s very best viewpoints (miradouros)—there’s always something new to discover just steps from Tings Lisbon.
Most visitors only know about two of Graça’s famous viewpoints, but here’s a local secret: there are actually four miradouros worth exploring near Tings Lisbon.
Here they are—enjoy discovering them as much as we do!

There a two things you can see no matter where you are in Lisbon. Castello São Jorge and our beautiful Pine Tree on the viewpoint outside Tings Lisbon.
Miradouro da Senhora do Monte, just outside our door, is often considered the best viewpoint in Lisbon. Not only is it on the city’s highest hill; its almost circular layout, without neighbouring houses blocking the view, gives you an impressive panoramic sweep over the castle, the river, and the old town.
The icing on the cake up here is Secret Garden at Miradouro da Senhora do Monte, started by our friends in 2019. Tucked below the viewpoint and surrounded by trees and street art, it’s one of the best places in Lisbon for a sundowner, with live music on many evenings and a relaxed, friendly crowd.

Paris in Lisbon? The Church, the Esplanada Bar in Graça
The view from Miradouro Sophia de Mello Breyner or Miradouro da Graça as people calls it, is fantastic (though not as good as from our miradouro)
The The Esplanada serves cocktails, draught beer, and simple toasts at reasonable prices considering its prime hilltop location under the huge pine tree just next to the new funicular that opened in 2024.
The settings with the Church and the Monastery are among the best in all Lisbon.
Together with the huge green pines, the clock tower and all the music and artists everywhere creates a fantastic bohemian ambiance. Sometimes we feel like being in Paris.
We use it as our outdoor office during the day.
The Miradouro is probably one of the most important in all Lisbon – read Thomas story here.

Miradouro Do Monte Agudo is our hidden gem and where we chill with a book in Café Esplanada’s sunbeds or picnic with friends at the Marble Pergola
Shhh… this one is our hidden gem.
Miradouro do Monte Agudo is where we disappear to when we need a break from the crowds and the traffic. It used to be almost empty and totally laid‑back; it still feels relaxed, but like so many of Lisbon’s “secret” spots, Monte Agudo is slowly being discovered by the bohemian crowd.
Even so, it’s still quieter and more residential than the famous viewpoints in Graça, with long, open views over the city and far fewer people. If you like a more local atmosphere and space to sit and think, this is the viewpoint for you—bring a coffee, slow down, and enjoy a side of Lisbon that feels less polished and more everyday.

Some of our guests use Miradouro da Penha de França as the destination for their morning run
Miradouro da Penha de França must be Lisbon’s least known viewpoint.
Miradouro da Penha de França must be Lisbon’s least known viewpoint. Located on the top of the hill at the end of Rua da Penha de França (a continuation of Largo da Graça), it has nothing tall in front of it—no houses and only low trees—so the view feels open and expansive.
The panorama here is different from Graça’s miradouros, and because the view faces south‑west it’s an excellent spot for sunsets. Come early or in the morning and you may have the place almost to yourself, with Lisbon at your feet and just a few locals passing by.
