![We have cats because we love them. So it has been a very positive experience to see how much our small babies add to the Ambiance at Tings.](https://tingslisbon.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-fastest-cache-premium/pro/images/blank.gif)
Of course Title of this post isn’t true.
Most travelers Lisbon’s beaches are the ones you reach along the coast between Lisbon and Cascais – with Carcavelos as the most popular one.
But we would never dream of going to the beaches – the they are too crowded and very often the water still mixes with Tejo river’s unclear river water.
So as most of our guests choose to stay with us at Tings Lisbon because they share the same interests as us, there is a big chance that you will agree with us.
The Transpraia Train hasn’t run since Covid. It used to link Costa da Caparica town to Fonte da Telha. All the beaches along this 9 km long line are numbered where the number refers to the Train Stop.
Its a big mystery to us, that only a small group of travelers know about the Caparica beaches – and those who do its only the 5 km sandy stretch in front of Caparica town.
We never go there either…
Not because of the water, which is super nice. But the setting with Caparica’s Concrete Urban jungle reminds of the worst Urbanization around the Spanish Mediterranean coast in the 70’s.
What most people don’t know is that the Caparica coast – only 30 minutes from Lisbon – has one of Europe’s most stunning beach-coast starting from our city beach Cova do Vapor on to the far west (I blogged about it here.) and continuing to Capo Espicel 30 km to the south.
You can reach all the beaches from Cova do Vapor to Fonte da Telha from Lisbon faster and cheaper than beaches from Lisbon to Cascais.
We go to the beach there 2 – 3 times every week. all year around. But never during the weekends – never go as a tourist.
And that is a problem.
The thing is more and more of our guests (and others) ask for our recommendations: for sights, restaurants, transportation, museums, Tram E28 etc.
We never recommend places and or things. But we don’t mind sharing information about what we like, where we go etc.
Regarding beaches we tell them that our Carparica beaches are much better and easier, faster and cheaper to reach by UBER or BOLT compared to the popular Carcavelos Beach.
But to be honest we haven’t tried that ourselves – we have our own car and almost always combine a beach visit with shopping at Leroy Merlin, IKEA, Makro or one of our many nurseries…
So last Sunday we decided to play Guests at Tings Lisbon for a day.
Last Sunday at 9:20 am after finishing our breakfast at Tings at we packed our beach towels, books etc, ordered an UBER and went to Fonte da Telha. (16 €, 35 min) .
The morning mist was still covering the beach when we arrived. So we killed time with an extra morning coffee and the obligatory Bolos de Berlim.
When we left the sun was up and Thomas on the way to his first swim followed up by 45 min sunbathing with our books.
After that we started our beach-to-beach jumping, with stops for more sunbathing breaks, coffee breaks, several swimming breaks and ending with a traditional Beach Bar lunch…
At this time of the year the sun can be tough – so at 3:30 pm we had enough and ordered an UBER (15 €) back to Tings.
We arrived at back at Tings Lisbon 4 pm. 6:30 min after we left in the morning, in time for an afternoon nap before dinner.
The day was fantastic.
We almost did as we did when we lived in Asia.
So don’t hesitate to follow our advice.
