We’re beach collectors, always on the lookout for that perfect, deserted paradise to spend a few days in bliss. So, it was a fantastic surprise when we stumbled upon the beaches along the 30 km Troia Peninsula, stretching from Comporta in the south to the bustling Troia Resorts opposite Setúbal in the north.
The actual Comporta Beach is your typical Portuguese setup—parking and a wooden path leading to a beach bar just outside Comporta Village.
If you’re like us and prefer secluded, paradise-like spots, just drive past Comporta and head north until you find your ideal haven. Park your car by the roadside and hike over the massive sand dunes for about 15 minutes. Trust us, the effort is well worth it.
As you reach the top of the final dune, you’ll discover one of the world’s most breathtaking beaches—and depending on where you park, you might have it all to yourself, or perhaps share it with a few passing dolphins.
Don’t forget to bring water and a parasol… And if you’re staying at Tings Lisbon, be sure to ask for beach towels.
Comporta is posh and expensive, and honestly, it’s tough to find a decent meal that’s worth the money.
It’s really only worth visiting if you need a quick spot to relax, work, and do absolutely nothing (except for spending money).
If you insist on staying the night, head to the charming hidden gem of Alcácer do Sal instead.
And if you’re on a longer road trip, be sure to include Évora. The total driving time for this circuit from Lisbon is around 4 to 5 hours.
You have many possibilities!
