Use Lisbon's fantastic viewpoints as relaxing pit stops.
Lisbon is one of Europe’s most diverse cities – with neighborhoods with its own life, ambiance, style, people and food. Sometimes passing a street is like going to a completely different city.
And Lisbon is as hilly as Rome – which is both good and bad. Bad because climbing the hills can be quite exhausting, especially in the summer heat with temperatures above 30° C. Good because once you reach the top, the mild and chilling breeze from the Atlantic greets you.
On most of these ‘tops’ you find one of the city’s many viewpoints – or Miradouros – often with a small Quisque that serves coffee, cold drinks and snacks. The ‘prize’ for your efforts 🙂
The most popular of them all is our Miradouro da Graça that Time Out has featured
... one of Lisbon’s best meeting points, it has great views and a vibrant atmosphere (especially when the weather is good). It can be a great starting point and an even better finish line for your neighbourhood explorations. Interest points include Vila Berta, the bars Botequim and Damas and the educational assistance and social support society Voz do Operário – there is no shortage of places to show your foreign friend who just landed in Lisbon.
And you get the stunning views of the city to boot: from the castle all the way up to the river, including Mouraria and Baixa Pombalina
