Unlike most other European Cities the distance from the center to the airport is short. With a distance of only 7 km from Tings Lisbon you can walk in around 1 hr. When we go there by car it takes us less than 20 min.
There are several ways to reach Lisbon downtown. Only 3 of them are relevant you if you’re going to Tings.
Read the following and choose for yourself.
We use Uber and Bolt, but there at others.
The quality of their cars are in general much better compared to the sometimes old and worn-out Taxis. And we don’t have to discuss with the drivers about, routes, prices etc.
Unless they do promotions they charge more or less the same price for taking you from Tings Lisbon to the airport – around € 7 – 8 on a weekday morning.

Like all other international cities you also have Pick-Up services as a possibility. Some people like the convenience to have a comfortable car waiting ready to take you to your hotel. But to us it doesn’t make any sense to pay 3-4 times as much as for a Bolt or Uber – so we never use them.
Taxi fee on a weekday morning:
Minimum fee € 3.25

Km fee 7 x €0.47 = €3.29
+
Waiting fee 5 min = 5 x €0.25 = €1.25
+
Luggage fee (one bag) = €1.65

Total: €9.44
Only very few our guests who arrive to Tings by taxi pay the official rate. Most are caught by Lisbon’s biggest scam and ends up paying from € 25 and up – several more than € 40.
Most travelers are tired when they arrive in Lisbon after a long travel. Some comes from a different time zone and are jet lagged.
Travelers arriving at a destination for the first time don’t know their hotel’s location, the shortest route to the hotel and the local tariffs.
So they are “easy meat” for the hungry and taxi drivers that the list of Lisbon’s biggest scams.
But no matter what they say – the taxi drivers are under the obligation to turn on their meter for any journey made.
To skip the line in front of the taxi stand pick a taxi from the
Drop Off parking in front of Departure above you.
Tell the driver to go to Graça (pronounced GHRASA) and then the address:
Rua da Senhora do Monte 41 – 50 meter before the mirador.
Always tell the driver to take the shortest route.
When you arrive to Tings Lisbon never pay before you get your receipt.
Without it you wont be able to refund the scam.
One of the ‘bonuses’ you get when you book directly with us (besides cheaper prices, of course) is that we get a chance to share our advices based on our own experiences.
Booking.com and Google write that the distance to Tings from the nearest metro to us is 1.1 km.
BUT they don’t mention that the climb to us on the top of Lisbon’s highest hill is VERTICAL! They also forget that you have to carry your luggage AND WORSE – that during the high season the sun can be merciless.
We recommend our guests NOT to take the metro.
Not at all
With a combination of 3 busses (705 + 722 + 708) it takes 47 min to reach us – including 2o minutes walk. But this ‘exotic’ option may end up costing you a fortune.
So in our world just forget it!
