When changed from being tourist to independent travelers our bibles were Lonely Planet, Rough Guide and Guide Routard.

That’s history 

In 2001 when we backpacked around the world for a year most of our information about places to go, eat & stay, border crossings, safety and even inspiration came from the guide books we carried along. But already then the most adventurous parts of our travel were only possible because of information we could reach only from the countless internet cafes we found in even the most remote spots on the planet. 

In 2008 we bought our last Guide Book: Lonely Planet Bhutan.

Today I get all information and inspiration from blogs. And mostly from bloggers with attitude & opinion about the things they blog about based on their own travel experiences and interests and not afraid to express their honest opinion. 

The information is not only better and more inspiring than guide books. It’s free. 

So we try to pay back by sharing our stories and experiences with the travelling community through our blogs like this  one about Lisbon,

Spotted by Locals (since 2008) is a community of blogs & apps by volunteer locals in 81 cities.
Our Spotters live in the city they write about, speak the local language and write only about their current local favorite spots.

Best Lisbon Blogs 2021 – As Selected by Locals in Lisbon!

My list of blogs I follow is long. I try to follow them as frequently as they publish stories – but sometimes my time makes it difficult. 

A lot of them are of course about Lisbon where we try to stay updated about things that interest us. Thanks to #, Google Alerts, WP Reader and Tweetdeck that has become much easier than it was only a few years ago. 

If you are looking for local tips and articles that are related to certain themes concerning Lisbon, you should definitely check out this vibrantly designed blog!

Spotted By Locals. Best Lisbon Blogs 2021 – As Selected by Locals!

Every morning I wake up to updates from them all – updates that inspires me to most of the stories on this blog. 

My favorite Lisbon blog (and for other cities as well) is SpottedByLocals. So imagine what a thrill it was to find this blog on their list of Best Lisbon Blogs 2021 together with another favorite of mine: Atlas Lisboa (The French Lisboete Magazine is another super blog that must be shortlisted for 2022).

Something is better than both blogs and books: Just GO

No reason to waist time on research. Today Lisbon’s restaurants open again for indoor and outdoor serving, most shops and attractions will reopen.  And the beaches are more beautiful and welcoming than ever.

So until all tourists return to Lisbon – the first movers will have this fantastic city to themselves.  

And until our occupancy gets back to normal we have all the time you need to get information and answers. Until then you enjoy Lisbon from this blog.
