We dropped the New Year’s Eve parties many years ago, Today we either take things as they come or arrange a more ‘upscale’ dinner party with a few foodie friends. Good food and wine with close friends never fails.
We do the same when we travel around New Year – drop focusing on the party. Before we always ended up feeling like strangers and intruders at other peopls parties or as spectators watching other people having fun – which is not funny at all! Instead we either book a table at a good restaurant or we plan to be near the fireworks and eat whatever is available. Or both – in case you have good restaurants around the firework and manage to get a seat.
If you recognize this situation you’ll probably also agree on this:
What you really need to know when you are in a new and ‘unknown’ city on New Year’s Eve is where the fireworks are, how the local traditions are and then plan accordingly.

Last year we decided not to do anything. So until a few days before New Year’s Eve where we we invited e few friends who happened to be in town over for dinner we had NO PLANS AT ALL.
This spontaneous decision turned into one of our best gourmet parties ever.
So this year we will do the same – just together with Sofie, Kasper and Manfred who is 2 1/2 years old.
See you in 2020 – if not before 🙂
