Recommended reading when you make your Lisbon Plan

We are drowning in stories, features and blog posts about what to see and do in Lisbon. All of them are more or less the same.
Business Insider’s Hillary Hoffover has visited Lisbon and high-lights four not-so-common things to consider, when you plan your trip – definitely worth reading.
De gustibus non est disputandum.
One of the things-to-do that all guide books recommends is a day trip to Sintra – especially the Pena Palace.
Hillary is not so impressed – especially about the popular Pena Palace which she finds too crowded.
We agree with her. Sintra is beautiful and worth a visit. We go there a lot – but over first visit was on our 3rd or 4th Lisbon visit. And in our opinion the popular Pena Palace is overrated and far from as interesting as many of Sintra’s other beautiful castles and ruins. If we’re only allowed to recommend one place it’s always Quinta da Regaleira that wins. To us that place alone is worth the whole trip.
If Sintra and Pena Palace is on your Lisbon Bucket list we recommend you to be at the gate when they open. Otherwise it gets too crowded.
